When we asked our donors what they wanted more of, the answer was clear: deeper connections – to each other, to the nonprofits doing meaningful work in our region, and to the issues shaping our community. What you’ll find below is a glimpse of how Gulf Coast has been bringing that to life.
One way these opportunities take shape is through our Be Inspired series – in-depth conversations that bring donors and Gulf Coast experts together to explore key questions and deepen understanding of the issues shaping our region. From family philanthropy and long-term giving approaches to unpacking insights from the most recent Regional Scan, these sessions weave together practical guidance and community context in a way that’s as engaging as it is meaningful.
In one instance, a session focused on affordable housing shed light on one of the region’s most pressing challenges. Grounded in data and anchored in the work of the Sarasota Housing Action Plan, the discussion brought forward a clearer picture of where the region stands and where it’s headed. Donors engaged in an open and candid dialogue with Gulf Coast staff, asking thoughtful questions, exploring how local solutions are taking shape, and considering the meaningful role philanthropy can play in advancing long-term, sustainable change.

There's something that shifts when you move from talking about the work to actually seeing it. Through guided site visits, donors spend time with nonprofit partners, hear directly from their staff and leadership, and experience firsthand how programs operate. These visits offer a clearer view of both the challenges organizations navigate and the impact they are making every day. A recent visit to All Faiths Food Bank highlighted how food providers are responding to increased need and changing public benefits, including the expansion of the Food and Resource Center to serve families in DeSoto County.
Donors have also spent time with organizations such as Children First, Big Waters Land Trust, Sarasota Ballet, and the Child Protection Center, gaining insight into how early childhood education, environmental stewardship, the arts, and family safety each contribute to a stronger, more resilient community. Together, these experiences reflect our area’s breadth of needs and the many ways nonprofit partners are working to strengthen well-being and opportunity across our region. For some donors, those visits leave a lasting mark.

For some donors, these visits leave a lasting impression. That was certainly true for Keith Monda and Veronica Brady. Their experience with Child Protection Center became a powerful reminder of why they have supported the organization for so many years. Deeply moved by the organization’s vision for the future, they were inspired to make a transformational commitment in support of its planned North Port expansion, now known as the Keith D. Monda Family Campus of Healing.
Experiences like these reflect a broader approach rooted in listening and partnership. What began as curiosity has become something more personal, giving donors a clearer sense of the work, the people behind it, and the difference they help make. In those moments, generosity takes on new meaning, grounded in understanding and shaped by a shared commitment to the community.

These experiences are exclusive to Gulf Coast fund holders, and more are coming this fall. If you'd like to be among the first to know when new opportunities are announced, reach out to the Philanthropy Team – we'd love to connect.
