Double Your Impact
Gulf Coast Community Foundation, together with its donors, is launching a $500,000 challenge match to support a critical expansion of the Child Protection Center’s (CPC) South County campus in North Port. This dollar-for-dollar match will double the impact of community giving and help ensure children and families have access to timely, specialized services close to home.
The match begins April 1, the first day of Child Abuse Prevention Month, reinforcing the urgent need for increased prevention, intervention, and healing services as the region continues to grow. Gifts made during the challenge period will directly support the expansion of CPC’s campus, allowing the organization to keep pace with rising demand.
North Port has experienced population growth of more than 200 percent since 2000, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. CPC serves Sarasota and DeSoto Counties as the region’s only nonprofit solely dedicated to the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse. Last year alone, the organization reviewed more than 3,500 local reports of child abuse, underscoring the scale and seriousness of the need.
“When we collaborate with our donors and community partners, we can invest in projects that shape the health and well-being of our community,”
“We believe in the importance of creating and nurturing safe, supportive spaces like those the Child Protection Center provides, particularly for children and families in North Port and other growing communities across our region.”
The expansion effort builds on a catalytic leadership gift from Keith Monda and Veronica Brady, whose support enabled the South County campus to be named the Keith D. Monda Family Campus of Healing. Longtime champions of CPC’s mission, Monda and Brady have helped advance a vision centered on access, dignity, and healing for children who have experienced abuse.
“As our community has grown, so has the need for an expanded campus of support and healing for children,” the couple shared. “We hope this investment inspires others to join us in ensuring help is available when families need it most.”
As part of the next phase, CPC is advancing plans for a 7,000-square-foot expansion that will significantly increase capacity for essential services. The organization has assembled a design-build partnership led by Willis Smith Construction, Hoyt Architects, and Kimley-Horn to create facilities intentionally designed to promote safety, privacy, and healing for children and families in crisis.
“The Monda Campus represents a bold investment in the future of our growing community,” said Elizabeth K. Topp, Capital Campaign Manager. “We must ensure every survivor has access to a safe and healing environment. We never want to delay services because of space or capacity constraints.”
Community members, businesses, and philanthropic partners are invited to participate in the challenge match and help bring this expansion to life.
