Finish 2026 With Greater Impact

Your generosity has strengthened our community in countless ways this year. As 2026 comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to review your giving plans, take advantage of available tax benefits, and continue investing in the causes that inspire you. Gulf Coast is here to help make your philanthropy both effective and deeply meaningful.

Smart Giving Strategies

Before December 31

We recommend that you consult with your personal tax advisor or financial professional to determine the strategies that are most appropriate for your individual circumstances. The information provided herein is for informational purposes only and should not be construed as legal, tax, or financial advice.

Consider “Bunching” Your Charitable Giving

If you anticipate making charitable gifts over several years, consider combining those contributions into a single gift to your donor advised fund. You may be able to maximize your tax deduction in one year while continuing to support the nonprofits you care about through grant recommendations over time.

Give Appreciated Assets

Donating long-term appreciated assets, such as stocks, Bitcoin, precious metals, real estate, etc., is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give. You may avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation and stretch your charitable dollars further. With the stock market at near record highs and precious metals continuing their surge, making a gift of those types of assets before year-end could be especially advantageous.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions

If you’re 70½ or older, you may transfer up to $111,000 this year directly from your IRA to Gulf Coast, reducing your taxable income while supporting important causes. This can also satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution. Although these gifts cannot be contributed to a donor advised fund, they are an excellent way to support specific charities through designated funds or Gulf Coast initiatives, which can be endowed to support your favorite causes for generations to come.

Year-End Giving and Granting

To ensure your grants from your donor advised fund reach the organizations you support by year-end, please submit your recommendations through the Donor Platform (preferred) or through your Philanthropic Advisor by December 18, 2026.
