This year, Florida's Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and there will be many issues on the ballot to consider. Before you dig into the details, it’s important to understand what’s required to participate before you vote. That starts with knowing your registration status, understanding the key deadlines, and deciding how and when you’ll cast your ballot.
Here’s what to know as you prepare for Election Day:
Mark Your Calendar
October 5 — Voter registration deadline
- Register to vote or update your registration by Monday, October 5 to participate in the General Election. If you’re already registered, take a moment to make sure your information is current.
October 22 — Vote-by-mail request deadline
- Planning to vote by mail? Your request must be received by your county's Supervisor of Elections office by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 22.

October 24–31 — Early voting
- Florida’s mandatory early voting period runs October 24–31. Counties may offer additional early voting days, so check your county's Supervisor of Elections office, linked above, for locations and hours.
November 3 — Election Day
- Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time. If you’re in line at 7 p.m., you can still vote.
