In fiscal year 2026 (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026), Gulf Coast Community Foundation (Gulf Coast), together with our donors, contributed more than $49 million in community impact.
This year's investments reflect three decades of partnership between Gulf Coast and the donors, nonprofits, and community leaders who share our vision for the region. Since 1995, that collaboration has helped advance more than $650 million in community impact, funding solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing Sarasota, Charlotte, and DeSoto Counties. In FY26, those investments touched every corner of the region, from donor-funded partnerships tackling homelessness and food insecurity to board-directed grants supporting the arts, education, and the environment.
Donor Partnerships
This year, Gulf Coast donors stepped forward with more than $40 million in grants, generosity that reached families, children, and neighbors across the region and beyond. Among these investments, $7.7 million in collaborative funding partnerships came together to advance cornerstone projects such as:
- All Faiths Food Bank — Gulf Coast joined donors in co-investing to establish the DeSoto County Food and Resource Center, helping families facing food insecurity find stability.
- Child Protection Center — Gulf Coast and its donors issued a challenge match to expand the Monda Family Campus of Healing, rallying community support to provide critical child welfare services for families in south Sarasota County.
- Resurrection House — Gulf Coast partnered with donors to power the Facility Reconfiguration Project, strengthening services for adults experiencing homelessness across the region.
Board-Directed Grants
Gulf Coast's Board of Directors invested $6.9 million to fuel bold work region-wide, reaching more than 225 organizations spanning the Foundation's five focus areas, including:
- Arts and Culture
- Empowering Arts Grant Program — $785,000 in annual flexible funding gives 13 cornerstone cultural organizations the stability to grow, innovate, and thrive.
- Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens — On average, more than 3,000 kindergarten through high school students experience nature firsthand each year through Gulf Coast-supported field trip funding and programming.
- Civic and Economic Development
- Suncoast Searchlight — This investment helps power local journalism through a new Local Government Reporter and the Searchlight Series, a public forum connecting residents with local and national experts on issues shaping their community.
- CareerEdge Funders Collaborative — Gulf Coast's investment in CareerEdge now totals more than $2 million, helping fuel a collaborative effort that has trained more than 8,500 workers and driven $45 million in new wages and raises for our regional workforce.
- Education
- PLANit Sarasota — Uniting more than 40 partner organizations, PLANit Sarasota is expanding college and career access for Sarasota County students, advancing the statewide goal of preparing 60% of working-age adults with a degree or high-value certification by 2030.
- Suncoast Technical College — A new Studio Lab is giving students hands-on experience in digital cinema production, from cinematography to post-production, working alongside industry professionals on real commercial projects.
- Environment
- Trust for Public Land — New Legacy Trail connections, from Bahia Vista to Fruitville Road and Bobby Jones Golf Club to Nathan Benderson Park, are bringing the region closer together, one accessible mile at a time.
- Solutions to Avoid Red Tide (START) — A single test pond planted with native landside grasses saw a 56% drop in nitrogen pollution, proof of concept for a low-cost approach. Gulf Coast is now helping expand to more communities across the region.
- Health and Human Services
- Centerstone of Florida, Inc. — Gulf Coast's support helped launch BRACE (Behavioral Response and Community Engagement), a partnership with the Venice Police Department that embeds trained mental health professionals directly into crisis response to connect residents with compassionate care while addressing root causes.
- Forty Carrots Family Center — Through the Partners In Play® (PIP) program, Forty Carrots Family Center provides guided early learning opportunities for children and families in both Sarasota and DeSoto counties.
