A Home for Those Who Keep Our Community Running

Lakeview Village – a residential community developed by Harvest House – is expanding access to attainable housing for our community and offering families the opportunity to live closer to jobs, schools, and essential services.

Lakeview Village Executive Summary Proposal 02 04 26

Safe, stable housing is often the foundation that allows working families to thrive. That’s the vision behind Lakeview Village – a thoughtfully designed residential community developed by Harvest House to expand access to quality, attainable housing for our community.

Lakeview Village will create 25 modern, energy-efficient apartments for households earning 60–80% of Area Median Income (AMI), including teachers, healthcare professionals, social workers, and other essential employees increasingly priced out of stable housing. Located next to Emma E. Booker Elementary and near local middle and high schools, the community will offer working families the opportunity to live closer to schools and jobs, as well as reduce commute times.

Lakeview Village is well on its way to becoming a reality. The total project cost is $5.6 million, and $3.9 million is already secured. Foundational support includes $2.5 million in federal community development funding through Sarasota County and $1 million from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation. A $375,000 matching pool – including $250,000 from Gulf Coast Community Foundation and $125,000 from the Elsa and Peter Soderberg Charitable Foundation – will double the impact of every new gift, helping provide 25 stable, modern homes for working families.

Once complete, Lakeview Village will not only provide stable homes, but the rents paid will also create an ongoing revenue stream to support Harvest House’s broader mission. This model strengthens both families and the organization serving them, ensuring lasting impact well beyond the initial build.

With leadership support already in place and a clear path forward, now is a meaningful opportunity to help close the remaining gap and bring Lakeview Village to completion.
