Honoring the Legacy of Scott C. Schaupp
Scott C. Schaupp passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A proud educator, veteran, and community leader, Scott’s life was defined by his passion for education and unwavering dedication to supporting the dreams of his students.
To continue his legacy, the Scott C. Schaupp Legacy Fund has been established. This scholarship fund is dedicated to supporting students pursuing careers in medicine who have attended Sarasota Middle School or Venice High School. Scott believed deeply in the transformative power of education, and this fund will ensure his impact lives on by empowering future generations to achieve their goals.
About Scott
Scott was born on April 28, 1943, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and grew up with a love for academics and athletics. After graduating from Birmingham Seaholm High School in Michigan, he pursued his passion for football at the University of Detroit and later at Iowa State University, where he earned a Division I football scholarship. He graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and later earned a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling.
Over his 29-year career with the Sarasota County School Board, Scott served at Sarasota Junior/Middle School, Brentwood Elementary, and Fruitville Elementary. His dedication to shaping young lives extended far beyond the classroom, as he was an inspiring mentor who supported students academically and personally.
Scott was also a proud Marine Corps veteran and lived life to the fullest through his love of motorcycling, tournament fishing, skiing, camping, and whitewater rafting. He spent his summers and holidays creating cherished memories in the homes he built in Wolf Laurel, North Carolina.
