Apply Now: Gulf Coast Board Institute

Gulf Coast Community Foundation is now accepting applications for its inaugural Gulf Coast Board Institute.

This nonprofit governance training series, which begins in January 2017, is designed for aspiring, new, and veteran board members. Interested candidates can learn more and apply online through our website.

Gulf Coast Board Institute will consist of four interactive, half-day training sessions over a four-week period. These are followed by three optional monthly peer-discussion groups. Sessions will provide a comprehensive overview of nonprofit board governance and explore key governance topics and issues in-depth.

Gulf Coast plans to offer the Board Institute on a regular basis, selecting up to 25 applicants to participate in each class. Participants will be selected through a competitive process with the intent of creating a group of individuals with a variety of experiences to enrich the training for all.

The deadline to apply for the Winter 2017 class is December 2. Trainings will be held on the following dates:
•    January 20 and 27
•    February 3 and 10

All sessions will be hosted at our office in Venice.

Investing in Good Governance

The Board Institute stems from findings in a recent needs-assessment of our region’s nonprofits conducted through our Invest in Incredible initiative. That study found that investing in the education and engagement of board members to be more effective in their role is a critical priority for our nonprofit community.

Board Institute training is provided by Gulf Coast at no cost to accepted applicants. In exchange, participants must commit to attend all four training sessions and to serve as an advocate of good board governance within any current or future nonprofit board service.
