How it works

Gulf Coast will select up to 24 applicants to participate in the Winter 2020 Board Institute. Training is led by professional consultants who are part of our Invest in Incredible nonprofit capacity-building initiative. Topics covered in the Board Institute include the fundamentals of nonprofit board governance, financial and legal oversight responsibilities, and how to create a highly functioning and engaged board.

Participants will be chosen through a competitive process with the intent of creating a diverse group of individuals with a variety of experiences. Gulf Coast provides all training and resources at no cost to class members in exchange for their commitment to serve as advocates for good board governance in current and future nonprofit board roles. Applicants must be currently active board members at a nonprofit in the region.

“I’d be hard-pressed to identify a more important investment that Gulf Coast can make in our community than ensuring strong board governance at our region’s nonprofits,” said Mark S. Pritchett, President | CEO of Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
