The Florida BRAIVE Fund at Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice
Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice has been awarded a $5 million grant to assist military personnel and their families from Central and Southwest Florida who are serving or have served in Afghanistan and Iraq. Established with a generous grant from the California Community Foundation, The Florida BRAIVE Fund at Gulf Coast Community Foundation will provide support to nonprofit organizations in a 25-county area to help address the unmet needs of these service men and women and their families.

Retired Military Officer Helps Today’s Soldiers Through a Gift to the Florida BRAIVE Fund
Since establishing a donor advised fund at Gulf Coast Community Foundation a few years ago, Judy Liersch and Allen Jennings have used it to support the work of the Foundation as well as other causes important to each of them. Learning about the Florida BRAIVE Fund last year led the couple to direct their most recent gift to the Foundation specifically to support this military-assistance fund’s efforts. Read more >>

About The Florida BRAIVE Fund
Gulf Coast Community Foundation was one of three community foundations in Florida to receive a $5 million grant from the California Community Foundation’s Iraq Afghanistan Deployment Impact Fund, for a total of $15 million throughout the state. Florida BRAIVE Funds established at The Community Foundation in Jacksonville and Dade Community Foundation in Miami will serve similar needs in North Florida and Southeast Florida, respectively. About IADIF
The Iraq Afghanistan Deployment Impact Fund was created at the California Community Foundation in response to a multitude of unmet needs arising among military service men and women and their families as a direct result of their deployment. Since 2006, IADIF has distributed over $200 million to more than 50 nonprofit organizations across the country to provide such services as counseling, childcare, transportation, emergency financial assistance, support and recovery programs for troops, veterans and families impacted by deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan. Additionally, IADIF has funded a small but select group of nonprofits engaged in research, advocacy, and public awareness projects to benefit our nation's troops and veterans.
